Team Jeg's ready for Las Vegas
Team Jeg's drivers Jeg and Troy Coughlin eagerly anticipate a return to the desert for the 3rd Annual Summitracing.com NHRA Nationals. If past history and recent performance have anything to do with the equation, the Pro Stock duo could be in for a very productive weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Jeg Coughlin has won the spring race the only two times that it has been contested. Add the fact that Jeg enters the race fresh off of a final round appearance at the Mac Tools Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida. An 8-0 record at the event coupled with a strong performance from the previous race and you have a recipe for a great weekend of racing for Team Jeg's.
"We are really excited about returning to Las Vegas," said Jeg. "We have really had some good fortune at this race, and our performance in Gainesville is proof positive that our program is headed in the right direction. Our focus is to continue building upon that success in the desert."
Troy Coughlin is equally optimistic about his odds in Vegas despite a slightly slower start to the season than anticipated. A semifinalist at this race in 2000, Troy looks to improve upon that record when he rolls his Jeg's Mail Order Chevrolet Cavalier in to the water-box at "The Strip" at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
"We always enjoy racing in Las Vegas," said Troy. "Bruton Smith has built an outstanding facility to race at and the city itself has a really exciting atmosphere and is full of energy."
"Team Jeg's has never lost at this particular race," continued Troy. "I'm looking forward to doing what I can to keep that streak alive."
Pro Stock Qualifying for the Summitracing.com NHRA Nationals begins with two sessions Friday, April 12 at "The Strip" at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Jeg Coughlin looks to improve upon his current position of ninth in the POWERade Championship points standings, while Troy Coughlin looks to make a hard charge toward the top ten.
