Team Jeg's - NHRA Pro Stock
Jeg Coughlin will return to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway as the defending Champion of the inaugural NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals and is eager to add his name to the list again. Troy Coughlin also would like to add his name to the list of winner's at one of the premier Motorsports facilities in the country.
The '00 NHRA Pro Stock reigning Champion currently sits in the No. 8 position in the points. Jeg has 157 points and can move up as high as the No. 3 spot with another win in Las Vegas. Troy Coughlin rests in the No. 15 position and is 64 points from breaking back into the top ten. Troy can catapult firmly into the top ten with a victory.
"The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is one of the premier facilities on the NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series schedule. Being the defending Champion of the inaugural race and having your name first on what will be a long list of winner's is an honor," explained Jeg. "Team Jeg's has experienced a lot of success through the years at high elevation tracks. We have a number of setups that compliment the high altitude and the lack of air presents unique opportunities. I don't know of any Pro Stock team that has tested their new cars at a high altitude track. It should really level the playing field and make each run even more important. Making small measurable changes will be the key to success. Our goal going into every race is to put the Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier in the winner's circle and our team will be focused on repeating when we get to Las Vegas."
"I won the '00 Winston Showdown at Bristol Dragway, which is another Bruton Smith facility. I would like nothing more than to win my first NHRA professional national event in Las Vegas," said Troy with a smile. "My son (T.J.) will be with me and he was with me when I won in Bristol. Both are considered to be high elevation tracks and they are both Bruton Smith facilities. I see a lot of similarities already and we haven't even pulled the new yellow and black Jeg's Chevy Cavalier out of the trailer."
The success that Team Jeg's has had at high elevation tracks is hard to ignore. If history is any indication of the future, there should be plenty yellow and black in the late rounds on raceday and if all plans come together the final round will be an all-Jeg's, all-Coughlin and all-brother battle to the win light.
