LAS VEGAS (Apr. 8) - Larry Dixon's best qualifying lap of 4.673 seconds at a track record speed of 316.90 mph set on Friday night proved to be his best as the Miller Lite Dragster earned the No. 6 seed and will be paired against No. 11 seed Doug Herbert Sunday in the first round of the inaugural NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Dixon's best lap on Saturday came during the early session when he turned in an effort of 4.710 seconds at 311.41 mph. The first round meeting between Dixon and Herbert's Snap-On Tools Dragster marks the second time the two drivers have met this season, with Dixon winning the first match up during the second round at Phoenix. Dixon owns a record of four wins and just one loss (4W - 1L) against Herbert during his six-year career.

"I can't remember the last time we ever ran the top speed of a meet, let alone the track record speed," said Dixon. "It just goes to show that Dick LaHaie has the car making some good power at this altitude. For Sunday, we just need to try and get a better handle on the first half of the race track. I am sure that Doug Herbert will be ready for the first round, and any time we meet up with Dick's old team it always makes for an interesting race."
