A total of 31 Pro Stock cars began their battle over the four scheduled qualifying sessions. The focus of each driver and team is to be among the quick 16 qualifying positions today (Friday) at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The reigning NHRA POWERade Pro Stock champion laid down the quickest 60-foot time of the session (1.019). The JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier posted a time of 6.936 at 199.32 mph. The run was good enough to move Jeg into the No. 8 position.

"I was pleasantly surprised by our time," said Jeg. "When my pop (Jeg Sr) told me over the radio what I ran I was not expecting the time to be that good. It just didn't feel that good from the seat," explained Jeg.

In the second session Jeg laid down a 6.934 at 199.46 mph. The run was a slight improvement over the first run of the weekend. Jeg slipped down to the No. 13 spot.

"We really felt like we were going to make a better run then we did," stated Jeg. "The night sessions are always important. On the other hand, we have a pretty solid baseline to tune from for the morning session. Our goal we be to firmly jump up into the top 5 spots in the morning tomorrow (Saturday)."
