Team Jeg's - Friday Qualifying Summary

In the opening qualifying session Troy Coughlin and his sleek Jeg's Chevy Cavalier ran a 7.037 at 197.65 mph. Troy ended up in the No. 12 position and will have three more opportunities to improve.

"One of our biggest goals going into the first qualifying session was to make a straight run. We went straight as an arrow," Troy said with a smile. "We have more left in this new Chevy Cavalier and we are off to a good start."

Defending Champion Jeg Coughlin Jr and his yellow and black Jeg's Chevy Cavalier rocketed down the track. Jeg ran a 7.019 at 197.71 mph and grabbed the No. 4 spot after the first session.

"When these Chevy Cavaliers leave the starting line and go straight they feel great," commented Jeg. "Running strong right out of the trailer is always a good sign. I believe that we are going to make some noise this weekend."

During the second session the air conditions improved. Troy ran a 7.029 at 196.85 mph and landed in the No. 14 slot.

"We are continuing to move in the right direction," said Troy. "The small measurable changes that we have been making to our Jeg's Chevy Cavaliers are starting to show."

In the second session Jeg ran a 7.017 at 197.28 mph. Jeg slipped to the No. 9 spot and will have two additional qualifying sessions tomorrow to improve his position.

"The most important thing for us right now is keeping these Cavaliers going straight. We are still learning the personalities of our new cars," explained Jeg.
