TJ Zizzo Dominant Friday at The Strip, 10th of 26 After Two Rounds

LAS VEGAS -With nearly ideal weather conditions at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, TJ Zizzo and his PEAK/Herculiner NHRA Full Throttle Series Top Fuel team laid down a strong pass of 3.923 at 309.49 mph to put him in the provisional tenth spot in the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals Friday. Making the run even more impressive is the fact Zizzo Racing has never run here before (in fact, has never run an NHRA race west of the Rockies prior this weekend) and are running in a class with 27 entries, the largest car count of the season in Top Fuel.

Zizzo's first run of the day resulted in an ET of 4.242 at 221.09 mph. His PEAK/Herculiner rail lost a cylinder late in the pass, forcing the Illinois native to shut down before crossing the stripe. The perpetually upbeat Zizzo said his day started on a positive note and only got better throughout the day.

"I flew in (Thursday) and was looking around and said, 'You know, I don't know if I'm into this whole desert scene," Zizzo said in his pit after Q2. "Woke up this morning with a whole new attitude. I said, 'You know what? This is beautiful!' We got mountains, we got scenery, we got a good sunset, how can it get any better than that?

"You know how it gets better than that? Running a 3.92 at 309 (mph) on my first full pass at a new facility for us!"

Zizzo, along with crew chief Mike Kern, was pleased with the run, but knows the team is capable of running even better. "We're learning the ropes (here). We dropped a hole on (the first pass). Thank God I have great team members. I clicked the thing off, got off the race track, came back (to our pit), replaced our parts, went back on the race track, Mike stepped up and we ran a 3.92.

"Great first day!"

On Sunday (Halloween), Zizzo Racing is inviting fans to come to their pit in costume to trick-or-treat starting at 9 a.m. A costume contest will be held at approximately 10 a.m. with the winner receiving an autographed PEAK mini-helmet and an opportunity to have their picture taken with TJ and the members of Zizzo Racing.
