Whisnant Turns His Attention Toward Pomona

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Today at the third annual AC Delco Las Vegas Nationals, Mark Whisnant failed to qualify his RW Performance / Snap-On Tools Pro Stock Cavalier for tomorrow's race.

Whisnant's best attempt of the weekend came in the Friday night session of qualifying. Whisnant ran a 6.967 / 198.15 mph, which netted him the 23rd position, and not part of tomorrow race.

"I am very disappointed," said Whisnant of Stockbridge, Ga. "We did not qualify, but it was not for lack of effort.

"We worked our tails off this weekend, but could never get the car right. We tried everything we could think of. We even changed motors before the last round. We just did not have what it takes today."

The next race on the 2003 POWERade NHRA Drag Racing schedule will be the 39th annual Auto Club of Southern California Finals in Pomona, Calif. Nov. 6-9.
