Lucas Oil/Charter Communications Chevy Cobalt off to slow start

LAS VEGAS, October 31, 2008 -- Dave Connolly, crew chief Tommy Utt and the crew of the Cagnazzi Racing Lucas Oil/Charter Communications Chevy Cobalt were looking forward to Saturday before Friday night was very old following a disappointing No. 8 qualifying effort in the opening day of the ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The best runs Connolly could coax from the red and white race car were 6.742 and 6.736 seconds in the season's penultimate race on the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series calendar.

While Utt and Connolly looked at the statistical results from those two runs, the rest of the crew was busy swapping engines in preparation for Saturday's two sessions that will set the starting line-up for Sunday's event.

"The engine didn't run as well as we anticipated," said Utt.

Connolly is third in points, 79 behind leader and teammate Jeg Coughlin in the championship fight. Coughlin held the top spot at 6.703 seconds at 205.47 mph.
