Berryman Chemtooler 7th at Vegas with consistent 4.60's

LAS VEGAS --  Cory McClenathan, from Anaheim, Calif., driver of the Henkelman & Baca Motorsports Berryman B-12 Chemtooler Top Fuel Dragster qualified 7th for the NHRA AC-Delco Las Vegas Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

McClenathan was happy with the Chemtooler's performance this weekend.

"We ran 4.62, 4.60, 4.65 and 4.64 (seconds).  You might as well say the Berryman B-12 Chemtooler Top Fuel Dragster is a bracket car," said McClenathan.  "The car wasn't the fastest out there but it was the most consistent.  Tomorrow we'll need to step it up a little, maybe run in the 50's (4.50 seconds) to be competitive but we're right there with the big boys.

"I want to congratulate my team owner and new teammate David Baca.   For his first Top Fuel race his Prolong/ Waterloo/303 Protectant Dragster was awesome.  The new team hung in there all weekend and had it not been for a problem on that final pass would have been part of the field tomorrow.  As far as I remember, I believe the Top Fuel field is the second quickest ever and he just missed by a little bit.  You'll see and hear a lot more of his team in the future."

McClenathan will be paired against  Rhonda Hartman-Smith in tomorrow's opening round.  In 2002, He has faced Hartman-Smith six times, winning five.  The pair has met 12-times in their career, with McClenathan holding an advantage of 11 to 1.

McClenathan's dragster is dubbed "Chemtooler" after Berryman's cartoon character who represents B-12 Chemtool, Berryman's flagship product line. Berryman introduced its first mascot in the late 60's.  In the late 70's the mascot evolved into a more professional "Berry-Man", that looked like a can dressed in a Texas Sheriff image.  In 1997, with the aid of the late Ed "Big Daddy" Roth of "Rat Fink" fame, the Chemtooler was born.
