LAS VEGAS (October 31, 2004) -- Cory McClenathan, driver of the Carrier Boyz Racing Berryman Products Top Fuel Dragster, who qualified No. 5 at this weekend's NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals, advanced to the quarterfinals in eliminations before a blower problem ended his quest for the Top Fuel title.

Against Andrew Cowin, McClenathan got a slight edge at the green light but the blower problems set in almost immediately. Cowin raced to the win light in 4.607 seconds, while Cory Mac coasted to a run of 8.889 seconds.

"On our final run today we lost blower boost which caused tire shake and ended our day," said McClenathan. "With the exception of that last run, we ran consistent all weekend. We are happy about that. We now have something to build on as we move to Pomona. Our future looks bright as we prepare to carry the colors of FRAM and Honeywell next season."

McClenathan got a little breathing room in the point battle with only one race remaining. He remains No. 7 in the NHRA POWERade Top Fuel point standings and now has 1100 points, 65 ahead of Doug Herbert in 8th.

Next up is the final event on the 2004 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series schedule, the 40th annual NHRA Automobile Club of Southern California Finals. The event takes place at Pomona Raceway on the grounds of the L.A. County Fairplex. The event will be contested Nov. 11-14.
