LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Greg Anderson, driver of the Vegas General Construction Pontiac Grand Am tops the field at the 4th annual Summitracing.com Nationals in Las Vegas, Nev.
It was in the Friday night session of qualifying that Anderson stunned the crowd when he drove his Vegas General Construction Pontiac to a track record 6.880 / 201.28 mph to secure his Number 1 position on the Pro Stock qualifying ladder.
Anderson's opponent in Round 1 will be POWERade Champion Jeg Coughlin Jr.
"Tomorrow there will be no room for error," said Anderson of Concord, NC. "Every round tomorrow will be a dog fight; not just lining up against Jeg, but every car racing on Sunday. All I know is that it will be a heck of a dogfight tomorrow.
"Honestly, I feel like we can win this race. When I did not qualify here last fall, I didn't care if we ever raced here in Las Vegas ever again. The way we are running here now, I wish we raced here every week.
"Right now I have the total package. I really mean it when I say I have the best team out here, not just here at the track, back also at the motor shop. I also have the best sponsors and team owner around. I know that without all the support I get from my team owner Ken Black, I would not be in this position today. I owe everything to Ken, Vegas General Construction, Fairway Chevrolet, Mac Tools and Pontiac, and want to win this race to thank them for their support.
"Right now Ken (Black) is a pretty happy guy. When your sponsor and boss are happy it is good, but if I finish the job and win the race, now that would be real job security."
Eliminations at the 4th annual Summitracing.com Nationals will begin at 11:00 AM PST on Sunday April 6.
