ACDELCO EXTENDS SPONSORSHIP OF LAS VEGAS NHRA NATIONALS
LAS VEGAS (Oct. 21, 2005) -- NHRA officials announced today that ACDelco, a global leader in automotive replacement parts and services, has extended its title sponsorship of the fall NHRA POWERade Series events held at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The three-year addition locks in ACDelco's title sponsorship of the event for eight consecutive years.
The ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals, held annually in late October and televised on ESPN2, is the penultimate event in the 23-race, $50 million NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.
"Certainly, ACDelco has demonstrated a great ability over the years to effectively utilize NHRA event and team sponsorships to promote its products and we are thrilled that they are renewing their title sponsorship of the Las Vegas NHRA Nationals, one of the most exciting events in the NHRA POWERade Series," said Gary Darcy, senior vice president of marketing, NHRA. The commitment increases ACDelco's participation in NHRA POWERade Drag Racing. ACDelco also is the primary sponsor for Kurt Johnson's Chevy Cobalt in Pro Stock, and an associate sponsor on Warren Johnson's GM Performance Parts Pontiac GTO.
