Kalitta looks for better luck in Vegas
Las Vegas, NV, April 1, 2002 - The past two trips to "The Strip" in Las Vegas for the NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals have not drawn winning hands for the MAC Tools/Kalitta Motorsports dragster team, but a little luck may just be enough to capture the Top Fuel title this year.
"Sometimes you need one lucky round in final eliminations to get an event win," said driver, Doug Kalitta. "We learn more and more each time we take our MAC Tools dragster down The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Hopefully we won't need a lucky round, but it is Las Vegas and we will take all the luck we can get."
The MAC Tools/Kalitta Motorsports team hopes the addition of the Palace Station Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas as an associate sponsor will give them an extra shot of luck if needed.
"It is an honor for us to be involved with such a high-caliber team as the MAC Tools/Kalitta Motorsports team," said Cedric Crear, Director of Marketing for the Palace Station Hotel and Casino. "We look forward to hosting them during their stay in Las Vegas and building a long and successful relationship."
All of the ground-pounding action on The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway begins rumbling Thursday, April 4 and continues until the end of final eliminations on Sunday, April 7. The 3rd annual NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals are the fourth event on the 23-event national tour of the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.
