Herbert's "For My Boys" Tour Looks to Carry Momentum into Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS (April 8, 2008) Coming off the first semifinal appearance of his 2008 "For My Boys" Tour, Doug Herbert, owner and driver of the SnaponFranchise.com Top Fuel dragster, looks forward to climbing into the cockpit of his 8,0000 horsepower hot rod and carrying that round winning momentum to the NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
"I always enjoy coming to this track," said Herbert. "We have had some ups and downs here, but when the conditions are right this can be one of the fastest tracks on the circuit. Plus, Bruton Smith knows how to build a race track and these facilities are some of the best."
Not only will Herbert be enjoying the first rate facilities at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, he will be introducing two lucky contest winners to one of the premier tracks in the country and NHRA drag racing in general.
Mary Stadick of New Ulm, Minnesota, was randomly selected to serve as an assistant crew chief for the SnaponFranchise.com dragster through a special promotion offered by Snap-on Tools and Early Times Kentucky Whisky.
"This will be my first time being at an NHRA event in person so I'm really looking forward to seeing it first-hand," said Stadick, who will be accompanied by her husband. "I want to thank Early Times and Snap-on for giving me the opportunity for this once in a lifetime experience."
Herbert, who moved up to the No. 9 points position after the last race, enjoys hosting guests like Stadick.
"I think the promotion Snap-on and Early Times put together is really cool," said the veteran driver and long time Snap-on ambassador. "We plan on showing Mary and Dennis a great weekend. Plus I think we might put them to work a little bit, too."
Even as Herbert introduces others to the experience of NHRA drag racing, his focus and goal remains intact: win the 2008 championship for his boys.
"I'm out here to win for my boys," said Herbert. "I keep saying it but it's the truth. They are my motivation, and in turn it motivates everyone on this team.
"Kevin Poynter and Keith Stewart have gotten some things figured out, and the crew won the Full Throttle Award at the last race. We are already one of the most consistent teams out there and now we are working on becoming one of the fastest.
"We just need to keep winning rounds and gaining points. We can do it. We've got two boys up there cheering for us who know we can."
