LAS VEGAS -- David Baca, driver of the Henkelman & Baca American Racing/Waterloo/YP.net Top Fuel Dragster, is qualified second after two of four qualifying sessions for the NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals being contested this weekend at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Running career best numbers, Baca, from Brentwood, Calif., blasted down the quarter-mile strip in 4.528 seconds at 320.36 mph.

The jubilant Baca had this to say about the run, "It was smooth. I didn't know how good, just that it was hauling the mail. All I can say is that when I've got a crew chief like Johnny West and the way this crew is starting to gel I'm happy, as they say, as a pig in slop. This group works hard everyday and they get along like family. I've just got to believe our time is coming soon."

Johnny West added, "This car has been trying to run the good numbers. We've been picking at it all along. All we're doing is what the car's telling us to do."

Two qualifying session remain for tomorrow - the first scheduled for 11:30 a.m. and the final one at 2:30 p.m.
