Las Vegas, April 3, 2004 -- Former Funny Car champion Cruz Pedregon drove the Advance Auto Parts Chevrolet Monte Carlo to an elapsed time of 4.833 seconds at 314.68 mph to earn the eighth quickest spot for the NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas.

"With the crazy weather that we've had this weekend, we're pleased with our performance, said Pedregon. We're staying consistent with our qualifying efforts and thats been a major accomplishment. Qualifying in this class is tough and to be in the top-half of the fieldis great."

Pedregon will face John Force in the first round when final eliminations begin at 11:00 a.m.

"There's never an easy round for anyone anymore," added Pedregon.bI always say what makes this sport so intense and exciting are the match-ups because it could be first round or the final round and that other guy in the other lane is going to be tough. You have to just focus on your operation and make sure you are as focused and ready as you can be."

Teammate, Tony Pedregon won the pole with a track record elapsed time of 4.747 seconds at 321.88 mph.

Television coverage of final eliminations can be seen on April 4, from 11:00 p.m. -- 1:00 a.m. on ESPN2.
