McClenathan hopes momentum carries team to the winner's circle

LAS VEGAS (April 13, 2005) -- Fresh from a runner-up at Houston and a semifinal appearance at Gainesville, Cory McClenathan feels the Carrier Boyz Racing team has a shot at the Top Fuel winner's circle at this weekend's Sixth Annual NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

"Since the season started we have steadily increased our performance each race. The last two races have given the team the confidence that we now feel we can run heads up with any team out here. We have a consistent race car and it's performing well. Well enough that I feel this FRAM AirHog dragster has the potential to reach the winner's circle. All we have to do is remain consistent, maintain the momentum we have established and the driver does his job," said McClenathan.

McClenathan is quick to point out that the new found success is the result of a team effort. "Mark and Andy Carrier have put together a good quality team. The reason we've improved our performance is that the guys have done a great job preparing the car and crew chief Todd Smith and clutch specialist Bob Bauer have made the right tuning calls."

McClenathan, who was runner-up at this event in 2002, is currently No. 4 in the NHRA POWERade Top Fuel with 257 points, 92 points behind the leader.

Qualifying for Cory Mac and the Carrier Boyz Racing FRAM AirHog dragster begins with two sessions on Friday, scheduled for 3:30 and 6:30 p.m., and concludes with two additional sessions on Saturday at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. McClenathan begins his quest for the Top Fuel title on Sunday with eliminations for all classes beginning at 11 a.m. All times are local Las Vegas time and subject to change at anytime.
