CHANDLER, Ariz. (Jan. 30, 2005) -- Two-time NHRA Top Fuel champion Larry Dixon powered his Miller Lite dragster to its quickest pass of the weekend Sunday at the National Time Trails at Firebird International Raceway.

The 35-time NHRA winner used a tune-up from crew chief Dick LaHaie to clock a performance of 4.538 seconds at 323.58 mph on Sunday's second and final test run. The Miller Lite/Lucas Oil car exceeded 273 mph at the 1/8-mile mark on the pass. Dixon's dragsterposted a .846-second 60-foot time on his opening pass.

"We're very pleased with the way the run came out," LaHaie said. "That was the first run we made where everything worked together the way it should. It gives us a nice baseline to go back to. We had the car setup just like we did for our first pass on Friday."

Dixon and Don Prudhomme's Miller Lite team will continue its preparation for the 2005 NHRA season Monday at the Phoenix-area track. The first event of the 2005 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series season is the 45th annual CARQUEST Auto Parts Winternationals, Feb. 10-13, at Pomona (Calif.) Raceway. Dixon is a three-time winner at the historic Winternationals.
