Stark ready to rebound in Reading.
READING, Pa. - At this time last year, NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster driver Keith Stark was on top of the world after winning the biggest race in drag racing, the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals. This year provided the opposite extreme as Stark and his Spitzer Coach Works backed team failed to qualify there two weeks ago. This weekend Stark and his team will be looking to rebound at the Lucas Oil Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pa.
Stark, from Danville, Ill., attempted to test last weekend at Route 66 Raceway just outside of Chicago, but was unable to do to rain. Undaunted, Stark has confidence his team will be able to regroup in Maple Grove, especially given cooler conditions are forecasted which should benefit his A/Fuel combination
"We tried to test last weekend," said Stark. "But it rained us out, so we had two choices when we left the track. We could either turn left and go to Reading or go straight and go home. We aren't quitters, so we're going to Reading. We weren't that far off in Indy. If this thing makes a full run, we'll be pretty solid."
"The weather should be pretty good this weekend," added Stark. "The track is usually pretty good there, so we should be able to throw a lot at it."
Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars, with one final session on Saturday. First round of eliminations will be ran on Saturday afternoon, and final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
