Stark set to rock Route 66 Raceway.

JOLIET, Ill. - NHRA A/Fuel Dragster guru Keith Stark can't help but be excited about this weekend's Craftsman 75th Anniversary Nationals presented by Racing Champions at Route 66 Raceway just outside of Chicago. At this event last year, Stark reset the national record en route to winning the race. With cool conditions forecasted for this weekend, Stark feels the stage could be set for another record setting weekend at his home track.

Stark, from just down the road in Danville, Ill., certainly has not had the year he is accustomed to this year in his Spitzer Coach Works backed injected-nitro dragster. His team failed to qualify at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals, an event they won last year, and has went out early in their last two races. Stark believes he found the problem at the last event.

"I think we have a handle now on the problem we have had at the last few races," said Stark. "The car really hauled in Columbus last weekend in relatively bad air. With the air the way it's going to be this weekend, if we can keep this thing hooked up, there's no reason why this car shouldn't fly. Route 66 has always been such a good track, I have no doubt it will be anything short of awesome this weekend."

Stark used consistent 5.30's to take the win here last year. Stark feels it will more than likely take those kinds of numbers just to be competitive this year.

"There's going to be a lot of top-notch cars here this weekend," commented Stark. "You're going to have to run .30's just to be a player on Sunday. Hopefully we can do even better than that."

Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars, followed by one session Saturday morning. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday. Stay tuned to InsideTopAlcohol.com for the latest news in alcohol racing.
