Kalitta Camrys 4-5 in Funny Car; Langdon 4th in Top Fuel in Phoenix NHRA qualifying.
Kalitta Motorsports teammates Alexis DeJoria and Del Worsham placed fourth and fifth in Funny Car, while Shawn Langdon was fourth in Top Fuel to lead Toyota in qualifying for Sunday’s CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals at the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Ariz.
“We picked up where we left off in Pomona,” said DeJoria, who has now qualified third and fourth in two races this season. “We ran really well during both Friday sessions. Today, we had another consistent run with that 4.06, so I’m happy. I’m excited to be qualified in the top half of the field again for the second weekend in a row, and to have picked up two bonus points during qualifying.”
Worsham placed fifh, Chad Head was 10th, Cruz Pedregon 14th and Tony Pedregon qualified 15th to round out the Toyota Funny Car contingent.
Langdon’s fourth marked the second straight race that he’s qualified in the top four after a second at Pomona. Antron Brown qualified fifth and will match-up with fellow Toyota driver Richie Crampton (12th) in Sunday’s first round. Khalid alBalooshi, who won the season-opening Winternationals, qualified ninth.
