Troy ends solid weekend in round one

Troy Coughlin and his Chevrolet Cavalier made four consistent runs through qualifying and were rewarded with a No. 5 qualifying position. It was the first race since Denver that Troy had been among the quick sixteen on raceday.

In the opening Troy went head-to-head with Brad Jeter in round one. The two had never faced each other previously in competition. Troy took the preferred left lane.

The battle put a Chevy Cavalier and a Pontiac Grand Am into the ring. The reaction time advantage went Jeter by .034 seconds (.452 to .486). The two cars looked like they were welded at the door handles as they rocketed to the big end.

The win light went to Jeter by .0201 seconds at the stripe. Troy ran a 6.829 at 200.65 mph.

"We made five solid runs over the weekend in my car and that is something that this group has not done in a while. The Jeg's Chevy Cavalier responded well this weekend and we are looking forward to finishing the year off on a strong note," explained Troy. "Our game plan is to leave the car in the trailer until we get to Reading and start where we left off."
