Team Jeg's drivers Jeg and Troy Coughlin enter the Chicagoland Dodge Dealers NHRA Nationals coming off of a spectacular weekend in Heartland Park Topeka. Both Drivers earned a semifinal round appearance, finished off by the team's first victory of the 2002 POWERade season by Troy over Mark Whisnant. Both drivers made a substantial move in the season long championship battle as a result of their performances. Jeg and Troy look to feed off of that momentum when they roll their Jeg's Mail Order Chevrolet Cavaliers into action at the Route 66 Raceway this coming weekend.
"It obviously feels great to roll into Joliet fresh off of a win," said Troy. "The important thing is to not lose focus and get right to work on qualifying. Pro Stock racing is so competitive that you can't let your guard down and think that you have it figured out. It will be business as usual when we roll the cars out for our first qualifying attempt on Friday."
"I am definitely ready to get started in Joliet," said an enthusiastic Jeg Coughlin. "Our team is continuing to build momentum, and we would like for it to continue into this weekend. We started off the season with a DNQ that set us back a little bit. The fact that we have climbed into the number three spot this quickly is attributed to our team's depth of character as well as the intense level of competition that any team faces if they race in Pro Stock. We look at each race as a new opportunity, and we race one round at a time. If we can continue to keep our focus, we should be a car to contend with this weekend."
Jeg and Troy enter the Chicago Dodge Dealers NHRA Nationals in the third and eleventh positions respectively in the season long POWERade Pro Stock Championship. Qualifying begins on Friday from Joliet, Illinois.
