(Joliet, Illinois) For a team that has gone through the proverbial roller coaster ride over the last 5 weeks, Sunday evening at Rte 66 Raceway in Joliet Illinois the brass ring came a little closer.
Just a short 35 days after a disastrous crash at the race in St. Louis, the Attitude Apparel / Kent Services /The Racers Edge team rebounded for their first semi-final finish at this weekend's event and missed a final round appearance by a scant 31 ten thousandths of a second.
"It's been a hellacious few weeks for everyone on the team and countless others as well," said Rodger Brogdon "but everyone has persevered and worked their butts off to get us back to this point. We're not to where we want to be just yet, but we're gaining ground. Obviously the goal is to win, and the old adage 'To be the best you have to beat the best' has never been truer."
"Right now Mike Edwards is setting the pace," Rodger added "and we have to be able to beat them to win. We gave him a hell of a run in the semi finals and came up just short, and for that I have to thank everyone on the team for all their hard work. We didn't get Mike this week, but we're getting closer and we'll continue to work just as hard for as long as we have to to catch him."
"Right now with the K & N Horsepower Challenge in Norwalk coming up a lot of the talk has been about making the field or being voted in as the wildcard entry. We've been working hard to solidify our spot in the field, but lost some ground in Atlanta when we didn't qualify. With Greg Stanfield not qualifying this weekend in Chicago and us qualifying #4 we were able to climb into a tie for 7th and with Englishtown and Bristol being the last races to earn points it's going to be a battle to the end. If you would like to cast your vote for us, log onto www.knfilters.com/register/kn_hp_cs.aspx and vote. We would certainly appreciate your support. The Horsepower Challenge will be run on Saturday at Norwalk and one lucky fan is going to win a new Harley Davidson as well, and we hope to see you all there!"
"Right now though we're off to Englishtown for this weekend's SuperNationals and with four races in four weeks it's going to be a challenge to keep up with the pace. But you know, after what we've been through in the last 5 weeks, I think we're ready to meet that challenge."
