Jeg Looks At Race Day As An Opportunity

Jeg Coughlin Jr began the second day of qualifying sitting in the No. 7 spot. In the third qualifying session Jeg posted a run of 6.831 at 201.37 mph and was on the bump by the end of the session.

"We expected to run better given the conditions in the morning session," explained Jeg. "The run felt better than what the time slip showed. We just need to figure out what the car is trying to tell us and give it what it wants."

In the final session Jeg was on the outside looking in when he pulled into the water box. The JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier delivered with a run of 6.806 at 201.22 mph. Jeg landed in the No. 12 position by the end of the final session.

"My hat goes off to our guys," said Jeg. "They did a great job in a tough situation. Everyone remained totally calm and that is the sign of a true team that works together. We have a great group and everyone complements each other."

Jeg Coughlin Jr will go head-to-head with newcomer Dave Connolly and fellow Ohio resident. Connolly will have lane choice in his Chevy Cavalier when the two meet.
