Jeg up beat going into race day

Jeg Coughlin Jr posted his best qualifying run during the third session. He ran a 6.836 at 200.56 mph and was the fourth quickest of the third session. Jeg moved to the No. 11 position.

In the final session Jeg ran into problems and did not improve. He slipped to the No. 12 spot by the close of the final session. The 2000 Pro Stock Champion remains focused and up beat going into the first round of the Sears Craftsman NHRA Nationals.

Jeg will face off against Warren Johnson in the opening round. Lane choice will go to WJ when the Pontiac and Chevy go to battle.

"We made three great runs during the first three qualifying sessions and were one of only two cars that would have made it into the field during each of those sessions. I would like to think that our bad luck is out of the way for the weekend and we will move forward. Team Jeg's has a lot of positive momentum right now and that is worth a ton when the big rounds are on the line," commented Jeg.

Troy Coughlin made his best run of the weekend during the final session. The Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier ran an impressive 6.867 at 200.26 mph and remained outside of the quick sixteen after the final session.

"We just made more errors then the cars in the quick sixteen. Like everyone has said all year; there is just no tolerance for errors in Pro Stock and that is what keeps everyone coming back," said Troy.
