Jeg's cars are looking strong after day one
Troy Coughlin qualified his Jeg's Mail Order Cavalier in the No. 2 position with a run of 6.845 at 201.55 mph during the first session of the weekend. Troy's speed of 201.55 mph was third fastest for the session and was only .15 seconds off of the track record.
"It feels great to have a solid run right out of the box. We have had some good outings at this track in the past. Hopefully this run will help us gain momentum as we head into the weekend," commented Troy.
Reigning Pro Stock Champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. found himself in the twelfth position after the first round of qualifying at the NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway. Jeg ran a 6.884 at 199.79 mph in his Jeg's Mail Order Chevrolet.
"The engine really surged in second gear. It felt like it ran a better ET than what it did from the seat. The important thing is that we made a solid pass down the track and we have solid data to tune from," explained Jeg.
Both of the Jeg's Mail Order Cavaliers made improvements over their first round efforts in the second round of qualifying at Route 66 Raceway. Troy Coughlin ran an impressive 6.839 ET. at 200.95 mph, while younger brother Jeg ran a consistent 6.866 ET. at 200.35 mph.
"It's exciting to see our momentum continue from first round, hopefully we will it see it continue through the rest of the weekend," commented Troy after his second round session.
"We made an improvement over the first round session," said Jeg. "We're going the right direction. We just need to do a better job of going from A to B in our Jeg's Chevrolet Cavalier. We scrubbed some ET off in speed, but I think were on track for a successful weekend."
Troy and Jeg are 2nd and 14th respectively in the quickest field in pro stock history after two rounds of qualifying action.
