Anderson Is Confident About Chicago
JOLIET, Ill. -- Greg Anderson, driver of the Vegas General Construction Pro Stock Pontiac Grand Am, arrives in Chicago, Ill. feeling strong about his chances at this weekends 3rd annual Car Quest Auto Parts NHRA Nationals.
Anderson has sighted Chicago as one of the racetracks where he and his team did poorly last season. It has been his yearlong goal to improve at the tracks where he felt he was weak. Poor qualifying times and a crash in the second session of qualifying at this event last year are some of the issues that have hindered Anderson's performance at the Chicagoland Speedway.
"In the past we have had a lot of problems in Chicago," said Anderson of Charlotte, NC. "We have had problems qualifying there, have not raced well, had mechanical problems, and even put one on its roof here in Chicago. It is an understatement to say that this has not been the best racetrack for this Vegas General Construction team.
"All year long we have worked toward improving our record at the racetracks that gave us trouble last year. Chicago is one of those tracks. We have worked on correcting our weak points, and adding more depth to our team. So far, I feel like we have rectified a lot of our problems.
"I am confident that this should be a strong race for us. The weather should be cool and cloudy so that will make it a power race. We will not have to fight the racetrack. All of that should add up to a strong race for us.
"If we can keep all four wheel on the racetrack, I think we will do well in Chicago this weekend."
Qualifying at the 3rd annual Car Quest Auto Parts NHRA Nationals in Chicago, Ill. will begin on Friday Sept. 26, and finish on Saturday Sept. 27. Eliminations will take place at 11:00 AM EST on Sunday Sept. 27
