Kalitta expects another memorable weekend in Joliet.

Joliet, Ill., Sept. 25, 2002 - Last Fall in Joliet, Ill., just south of Chicago, a unique cooperation between an awesome racing facility and almost perfect weather conditions led to incredible performances on the drag strip at Route 66 Raceway for the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. Many records were bested in several different classes in a memorable weekend for everyone.

Fans and competitors alike are surely hoping that the marriage of the two elements happens again this year at the Craftsman 75th Anniversary Nationals, Sept. 26-29.

After a forgettable weekend of racing in Memphis last weekend that yielded a first round exit for the Mac Tools Top Fuel dragster, Doug Kalitta and the Kalitta Motorsports team look forward to returning to their winning ways in Joliet this weekend with the possibility of more record-setting performances in the forecast.

"I have heard that conditions are favorable for big numbers this year, too," said Kalitta. "Team Kalitta knows the potential of our Mac Tools dragster. If the atmospheric conditions cooperate, it should be a great weekend for fans to watch some intense racing, and it will give us an even better chance to get the Mac Tools dragster back in the winner's circle."

"We set a team speed record (327.43 mph) at Route 66 Raceway earlier this season, so I am sure Connie (Kalitta, crew chief) and Jim (Oberhofer, co-crew chief) are eager to see what else the Mac Tools dragster is capable of in Joliet this time around."

Website updates begin on Friday, Sept. 27. Please check the news and photo sections on www.kalittaracing.com to keep track of the Mac Tools/Kalitta Motorsports Top Fuel dragster team.
