Goodyear D1486 drive tire wins twice in NHRA Chicagoland event.

National Hot Rod Association: Goodyear's new rear tire for the Top Fuel and Funny Car classes made a successful debut in the Chicagoland Dodge Dealers NHRA Nationals and three other Goodyear drivers won their class at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Ill.

Larry Dixon won the Top Fuel final over Kenny Bernstein and Del Worsham took the Funny Car final, beating Scotty Cannon.

Dixon said of Goodyear's new D1486 rear tire,"The new Goodyear tires helped a lot. We're posting much better 60-foot times. We used to (reach the 60-foot mark in) .870s (of a second) and now we have .820s and 830s."

Dixon is now 33-4 in eliminations this season.

Bruce Allen became the first repeat winner of the 2002 season in Pro Stock. He beat Tom Hammonds in the final round.

Scott Tidwell won in Competition Eliminator, keeping Goodyear undefeated in national events in that class this season. Tidwell beat Mike Farrell after Farrell had a better start.

The Super Comp winner was David Connolly, a 19-year-old racer. Connolly went through the elimination rounds, consistently registering better reaction times than his opponent.
