MEDLEN TO UNDERGO NON-SURGICAL PROCEDURE TO REGULATE HEARTBEAT

PHOENIX, Ariz.. -- John Force Racing crew chief John Medlen, who missed the 25th annual Lucas Oil Slick Mist Nationals at Firebird International Raceway because of health issues, followed the race from his room at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where on Monday he will undergo cardiac ablation, a non-surgical procedure designed to help regulate his heartbeat.

The 59-year-old Medlen reportedly listened to the simulcast of the race on nhra.com and followed the progress of driver Mike Neff, who ultimately drove the Ford Drive One Mustang to runner-up honors.

Neff and Medlen exchanged text messages throughout race weekend, consulting on a variety of issues including the tune-up on the Ford in which Neff qualified No. 2, posted a career best time of 4.037 seconds and recorded the quickest speed of the week at 309.06 mph.
