GLENDORA, Calif. (November 9, 1999) - Tom Compton, newly named president of the National Hot Rod Association, today, announced the hiring of Jerry Archambeault as vice president of public relations and communications. "While serving as the point on the NHRA account, Jerry has demonstrated a keen understanding of our business and what is needed to move us to the next level," said Compton, who was named only the third president in the association's 48-year history last week in Las Vegas. "As our sport grows and competes in these competitive times, it is imperative we have a strong focus in the areas of communications and public relations and Jerry fits that bill." In the newly created position, Archambeault will be responsible for direction and implementation of all public relations and communications programs. He also will oversee and supervise the event media relations and video/broadcast departments. In addition, he will oversee and direct the outside public relations agency, Hill and Knowlton, where Archambeault was a managing director in the Sports Marketing Group based in Los Angeles. While at H&K, Archambeault supervised and directed the agency's sports marketing clients including award-winning work with NHRA, Mark McGwire, the PGA of America, Easton Sports, Wilson Sporting Goods, the International Olympic Committee and Mazda's involvement in the AMA Supercross Series. Prior to working at H&K, Archambeault worked at bi-coastal agency with clients such as Toyota Motorsports, the National Hockey League and Upper Deck. In all, Archambeault has more than 13 years experience in public relations and marketing communications. Archambeault graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in journalism and public relations. He lives in Aliso Viejo, Calif., with his wife and two sons. k
