Cannon to debut Caps Coach & Trailer sponsorship at home track.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster pilot Jason Cannon will debut the team's new major sponsor, Caps Coach & Trailer, at their home event, this weekend's Mac Tools Gatornationals, in Gainesville, Fla. Over the offseason, the team also inked the racing news website InsideTopAlcohol.com and Valvoline as a major associate sponsors for this season.

For the past two seasons, the team has flown the Capsmarine.com colors, but will showcase the dealership's new line of Haulmark and United Trendsetter Conversions as the major sponsor this season. The 28 year-old Cannon, a past Division 2 Super Comp and Bracket Finals Champion, who lives just up the road in Middleburg, Fla., hopes to play off of a strong performance three weeks ago at the Division 2 event here, where the team ran a career best 264 mph in round one.

"We're just going to go out there and try to repeat that 5.40/264 run right off the bat," said Cannon. "If we can get a strong run like that under our belts, we'll try to step it on up. This is our home race, and it will be the first race with Caps Coach & Trailer, InsideTopAlcohol.com and Valvoline on board so we hope to do real well for them."

With conditions forecasted to be sunny with highs in the mid 70's, Cannon and crew chief Will Hanna feel that they may be able to improve on their personal best e.t. of a 5.38, ran two years ago here.

"I think the conditions are going to be pretty stout," commented Hanna. "Especially the two morning qualifying sessions. We did some homework over the offseason, found a few things, and it looks like it payed off in Gainesville a few weeks ago. I think with our Tom Conway horsepower, we should be able to run .30's this weekend. Having Tom Conway in our camp to help is a huge asset. You never know what the conditions will be though so we'll just try to run the best that the conditions will let us."
