HERBERT RIDES MOMENTUM INTO MOST CELEBRATED RACE OF THE YEAR

INDIANAPOLIS. (August 29, 2007) Still flying high from his first win of the 2007 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing season, Doug Herbert, driver of the Snap-on Tools Top Fuel dragster, prepares for the biggest race of the year full of motivation and optimism.

Long known in the drag racing world as "The Big Go", the 53rd annual U.S. Nationals at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis will hold more significance than ever. As the first race of the Countdown to Four, the next phase in the Countdown to the Championship, the top eight drivers in each of the professional classes will begin their battle for the championship this weekend.

Having secured a spot in the Countdown to Four with their dramatic win in Reading, Pa., Herbert and the Snap-on Tools team are ready to begin their quest for the championship. They will enter the race in the No. 8 position, a mere 70 points behind the current leader.

"Not many people thought we even had a chance to make the Countdown," said Herbert, "and that really got us going. We knew we could do it, and we did.

"There is no other team out there as motivated as the Snap-on Tools team, and I can promise you we want nothing more than to take home the championship.

"I've been to the finals here at Indy twice before, once in '92 with Ed McCulloch and then in '93 with Pat Austin. Second place won't get it this year! How great would it be to start out the Countdown to Four by winning the biggest race in drag racing? Hopefully we will find out on Monday."

The 53rd annual U.S. Nationals will begin for Herbert and the Snap-on Tools team on with qualifying on Friday, August 31. Qualifying will continue through Saturday and Sunday, with final eliminations set for Monday, September 3, at 11:00 a.m. EDT.
