ANTRON BROWN RACES TO NO. 2 SPOT FRIDAY AT INDY

CLERMONT, Ind. (Sept. 3, 2010) - Antron Brown blasted his Don Schumacher-owned Matco Tools/U.S. Army dragster to the No. 2 qualifying position Friday evening at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis. The two-time U.S. Nationals winner used an elapsed time of 3.808-seconds to finish second in the order on the opening day of qualifying for the 56th annual U.S. Nationals.

Brown, who enters the first race in the Countdown to 1 playoff ranked fifth in the Top Fuel standings, took advantage of Friday's only lap. The 24-time NHRA winner used a tune-up from crew chiefs Brian Corradi and Mark Oswald to power the bright blue Matco-backed rail to a lap of 3.808 seconds at 319.22 mph. It was Brown's fastest pass since clocking a speed of 318.99 mph at Norwalk, Ohio in June. Only DSR teammate Cory McClenathan was quicker at 3.789-seconds on Friday evening in the FRAM car.

"That was an awesome run for our DSR Matco Tools team," Brown said. "We really needed a good opening lap and Brian (Corradi) and Mark (Oswald) put an awesome tune-up in this Matco dragster. We made 15 runs in testing here at ORP last week and it paid off. Our goal was to get down the track and now we can really wick it up for Saturday's night run cause the conditions are going to be triple A throw down."
