INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Today at the 49th annual Mac Tools US Nationals Vegas General Construction teammates Greg Anderson and Jason Line placed their cars in the third and ninth positions on the Pro Stock eliminations ladder.
It was in the Friday session of qualifying where Anderson ran a 6.786 / 205.01 mph to take the No. 3 position. Line also ran his best time of the event in the third session. He ran a 6.819 / 202.73 mph to take the ninth spot.
"I am very pleased with the way we ran here this weekend," said Anderson of Charlotte, NC. "We are right where we want to be going into eliminations. Jason and I are on opposite sides of the ladder, and that is a good place to start.
"Our plan coming into this race was to get Jason back on the racetrack and use him as a blocker. In the last part of the season we have changed our focus and are concentrating on winning the championship. To do that we cannot just stand on our performance, we have to pull out all the stops, which will include trying some different strategies."
"Jason's job tomorrow is take out Kurt (Johnson). If everything goes right, they will meet in the second round. He is a talented driver and I believe he is up to the challenge. If it turns out that I have to race him in the final, then we will race each other heads up, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it."
"Tonight we will turn our attention to getting both cars ready for the race tomorrow. It is very tough out there, and I know that every one of these guys is going to take a shot at Jason and I. There is not a bad driver or car in this class. We have to be ready for them if we want to be standing in the winner's circle tomorrow night."
Eliminations at the 49th annual Mac Tools US Nationals will take place on Sunday Sept. 7 at 11:00 AM CST.
