Mike and John Coughlin started the second day of qualifying in the No. 2 and No. 18 positions respectfully. Team Jeg's began the day with improving firmly on their minds.

In the second qualifying session of the weekend John showed the strength of Team Jeg's when he laid down an impressive 7.504 at 179.28 mph. He ended up in the No. 3 position by the end of the session.

"Our team has been working hard getting ready for this race. Making a run like this is a real momentum boost for Team Jeg's. It is great to see all of the smiles and higher energy level. You need it to be successful at Indy," said John.

Mike Coughlin reloaded and took another shot at the competition in his Jeg's Mail Order Chevy S-10. He improved and crossed the finish line beams with a 7.487 at 179.71 mph and he took the top spot.

"It felt great from behind the wheel. The Jeg's Chevy S-10 was on fire from start to finish. Making a run like we did is a real reward for all of the late nights and hard work that the guys have been putting in at the shop getting ready for the biggest race in our sport," explained Mike.

In the third session John did not improve. He did make a competitive run of 7.524 at 179.47 mph. John ended up slipping to the No. 4 position by the end of the session.

"We really felt like we would improve in the third session. We used data from both of the Jeg's Chevy S-10's to make our setup decision and we just went the wrong way," commented John.

Mike continued his trend of improving on each run. He fired another shot after being bumped out of the top spot before he ran. The Jeg's machine crossed the finish line beams with a 7.473 at 180.52 mph to reclaim the No. 1 position.

"We made a great run in the third session. The small measurable changes that we have been making are paying dividends for Team Jeg's," said Mike.
