CLERMONT, Ind. - - After five consecutive qualifying races, the Team Marines Cavalier of Larry Nance hit a bump in the road on the way to Indy by not qualifying at the last event in Brainerd. Nance looks to start a new string of qualifying runs at the 48th annual NHRA Mac Tools Nationals which start professional qualifying this evening at 6:45 p.m. at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

"We had the Team Marines Cavalier running well," said Nance, who calls Akron, Ohio, home. "In fact, we had qualified at five straight national events before tire shake got the best of us at Brainerd. The entire crew is now concentrating on the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals and would like nothing more than to begin a new streak by qualifying at all the remaining races of the year. As competitive and as close as the qualifying times are in Pro Stock, that is a tough goal but we are going to do everything we can to achieve it."

Powered by Richard Maskin engine technology, Nance has one of the top engine builder supplying the horsepower for Catch 22 Racing and the Team Marines Cavalier.

"For engine power I have Richard Maskin, who I consider to be the best engine builder in the business. He won several championship when he was with Jim Yates and one with Jeggie (Jeg Coughlin). That in itself shows how capable he is. With Maskin's engine expertise and the set up of crew chief Taylor Lastor, I feel we can achieve our goal," concluded Nance.

The NHRA Mac Tools U. S. Nationals is considered the most prestigious event on the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. Professional qualifying continues through Sunday with final eliminations on Monday, Labor Day.
