Stanley and Kalitta Motorsports partnering for the NHRA's Mac Tools U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis; Grubnic to drive Stanley® FatMax® Top Fuel dragster
Ypsilanti, Mich., Aug. 31, 2004 -- At the upcoming 50th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis Raceway Park, Sept. 1-6, Kalitta Motorsports Top Fuel driver "Aussie Dave" Grubnic will carry a new bright yellow paint scheme into competition at the world's most prestigious drag race.
The Stanley Works, the Connecticut-based industry leader in tools, hardware and specialty hardware products, and Kalitta Motorsports are proud to announce a one-event primary sponsorship agreement for one of the best performing nitro-powered hot rods in the 23-event, $50 million NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of "The Big Go", Stanley will feature one of its FatMax® products and call out its various divisions on the vibrantly adorned race car.
Grubnic's specially painted, 7,000 + horsepower Stanley® FatMax® Top Fuel dragster will accompany Kalitta Motorsports' two other Top Fuel entries, the Mac Tools dragster and the Mac Tools/Jesse James dragster, driven by cousins Doug and Scott Kalitta respectively at the event. Mac Tools is a division of The Stanley Works.
"The car looks fantastic," Grubnic exclaimed. "We've been so fortunate this season to have developed some great sponsor partnerships and having Stanley and their FatMax® brand on board with us in Indy is yet another fine example of that.
"It truly is a pleasure for me and my team to be able to race our car and represent a company of Stanley's caliber in the biggest race of the season."
Grubnic, a 42-year-old journeyman Top Fuel driver, is in his first season behind the wheel of the third Kalitta team car. The fan-favorite native of Brisbane, Australia, has been driving nitro rails in the United States since 1995. He has been No.1 qualifier five times this season at consecutive events in Phoenix and Gainesville, at consecutive events in Atlanta and Chicago, and in Memphis. He has made an incredible four final round appearances (St. Louis, Seattle, Sonoma and Brainerd) at the past six NHRA national events. He is currently fourth in NHRA Top Fuel championship points and will return his dragster to the colors of Red Line Oil at the event following Indianapolis in Reading, Penn.
