BAYTOWN, Texas (Oct. 29, 2000) - It wasn't a good day for Dodge Motorsports and Team Mopar NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series drivers. Darrell Alderman, Larry Morgan and Dean Skuza each lost in round one of the Matco Tools Supernationals at Houston Raceway Park.

Larry Morgan, driver of the Dodge Motorsports R/T Pro Stock entry, fell to No. 1 qualifier Kurt Johnson in round one of competition. Johnson ran a 6.912-second elapsed time at 199.49 mph, which outran Morgan's 6.999/196.79.

"I left on him," Morgan said. "We slid around in the right lane. Kurt is always tough, especially when he has lane choice."

Team Mopar Dodge R/T Pro Stock driver Darrell Alderman lost to Mark Pawuk in round one after a red-light start.

"I was a little anxious out there," Alderman said. "It's kind of disappointing, but it happens."

The Matco Tools.com/Mopar Parts Dodge R/T Nitro Funny Car of Dean Skuza fell to Tony Pedregon in round one action. Skuza smoked the tires off the line and never recovered.

"We just put too much clutch into it," Skuza said. "The track looked like it would have held a nice number, but we went a little too far. We finally figured out what was wrong in qualifying, but it didn't translate to eliminations."
