HOUSTON, TX. - Bruce Litton, driver of the Wix Filters Top Fuel dragster, has discovered an interesting scenario. On January 13th, his shop burned to the ground in Indianapolis, Ind. Two months later on March 13th, he made his triumphant return. Last week at the NHRA Mac Tools Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla., he qualified in the 13th position. While he luck seems to be running in circles of thirteen, all it takes is one twelve to throw everything out of alignment.

That's exactly the scenario that transpired during this weekend's NHRA O'Reilly Auto Parts Nationals in Baytown, Texas, located just outside of Houston. Litton qualified in the twelfth position and was paired opposite of Doug Herbert in the first round.

Litton, who had made the 16-car field with a 4.791/299.21 lap, turned up the wick in a close match and was on his way to his best run of the weekend. Herbert left with a .005 advantage as Litton tried to bridge the gap.

The win-light went to the Snap-on Tools-sponsored driver with a 4.607. Litton kept it close until it appeared the something failed towards the end of the run and he coasted to a 5.687/155.33.

Litton was running his IHRA-legal combination during the weekend and hopes to repeat as the champion of the Holley Spring Nationals as the IHRA Summit Drag Racing Series heads into Rockingham, NC., this weekend.
