HALLSVILLE, Tex - Division 4 Federal Mogul Dragster leader Jay Meyer will once again have to wait on his chance to clinch the Division 4 Championship due to rain. A cold front moved through East Texas, drenching Hallsville Raceway on Sunday, and forcing the race to be rescheduled for a second time. Meyer is one step closer to clinching; he blasted out a 5.678/247 in a last shot qualifying attempt to put him on top of the field as No. 1 qualifier.

"I knew we needed to get down the race track without breaking anything. I couldn't make it on Friday for the first qualifying session due to work commitments, so going into that last session, I wasn't qualified," Meyer explained. "We just threw our Memphis 5.57 tune-up on it and hoped for the best. [James] Thompson oiled the track down in front of us, so then I had to wait 45 minutes in the car before I could run."

"It ran pretty good when it was on the racetrack," Meyer added jokingly. "It felt like it got airborne a few times on that rough racetrack."

Eliminations for the race were rescheduled for August 26. Meyer's first round opponent will be No. 8 qualifier, Top Fuel legend Gene Snow.

Meyer's next stop will be at National Trails Raceway in Columbus, Ohio, where Meyer will compete in the Federal Mogul All-stars Race to be held in conjunction with the Pontiac Excitement Nationals.
