National Hot Rod Association: Mark Pawuk set a national Pro Stock elapsed time record and Del Worsham equaled a Funny Car mark during a super fast Matco Tools Super Nationals at Englishtown, NJ.

Team Goodyear won five of the 11 divisions in which the tire maker had an entry, the best score among tire makers. This brings Goodyear's industry-leading total to 48 final round wins this season.

Pawuk's Pro Stock record elapsed time was 6.806 seconds. Worsham tied the Funny Car elapsed time record of 4.779 seconds, set by Tony Pedregon. But Worsham failed to back the time up with another run within the parameters set by the NHRA.

Kenny Bernstein won his 55th career final round in Top Fuel competition, blasting his way to a final round pass of 4.533 seconds, 321.35 mph. It was the fastest pass of the weekend. He beat Doug Kalitta in the final.

Pedregon captured his 11th career victory when he won the Funny Car final and Richie Stevens beat Pawuk in the Pro Stock final.

Eric Lourie collected his first final round victory in a national event by winning the Federal Mogul Funny Car final. Dale Koncen won the Super Gas final.

Jim Yates won his second Holley Pro Stock Dominator Duel when he edged Pawuk. Yates also won the event in 1997.
