MADISON, Ill. (Saturday June 23) - Mark Whisnant, driver of the PiranaZ Chevrolet S-10, enters eliminations at the 4th Annual Sears Craftsman NHRA Nationals in St. Louis, Mo. holding the 15th spot on the Pro Stock Truck eliminations ladder.

Whisnant, who has battled the flu all weekend, feels good about his chances in tomorrow's eliminations.

"I have been sick since I got here on Thursday," said Whisnant, "but I'll be ready to race on Sunday.

"We have had a hard time getting a handle on this racetrack this weekend. We made a good run in the first session, but we have gone backwards since then.

"Historically, St. Louis has been a hard track to tune for. It is usually very, hot and greasy here. So we came here expecting it to be like Columbus; expecting to use our hot weather tune up.

"Actually the weather has been pretty mild; not what we expected at all. So we have been try a few things in an effort to get our tune up right for race day.

"Here in St. Louis going into raceday the left lane is usually the better of the two, but as it stands right now they seem to be even. We will just have to wait and see what we get tomorrow. We will take a look at the track in the morning and then tune the truck accordingly.

"I have Victor Cagnazzi in the first round. Victor has been running well all season, and is starting to go rounds on Sunday. He will be hard to get past, but I think we can do it.

"I might be sick right now, but I always feel better when I’m racing. We will ready tomorrow."

Pro Stock Truck eliminations at the 4th Annual Sears Craftsman NHRA Nationals in St. Louis, Mo. begin at 11:00 AM CST on Sunday June 24.
