John & Mike Coughlin
John and Mike started the second and final day of qualifying for the professional classes sitting in the No. 5 and No. 11 position respectfully.
In the third session Mike was the first of the two identical looking Pro Stock Trucks to take on the track. He improved over his previous two qualifying times. Mike ran a 7.517 at 178.76 mph. The run was good enough to move Mike up to the No. 13 spot.
"This is the first weekend that we have run our new engine and we are all very pleased. The engine has responded well all weekend and we are starting to get a better handle on the power characteristics of the engine," commented Mike.
John laid down a 7.497 at 179.25 mph. The run was not an improvement over his previous 7.486 at 178.42 mph. However, John improved his short time and he has been consistent throughout the weekend. John stayed in the No. 5 slot.
"We are making much better runs this weekend and we seem to have our consistency back. There are a lot of smiles around the Team Jeg's pit area and that is always a big plus," said John.
In the final qualifying session Mike rolled into the left lane. He ran a 7.579 at 178.52 mph. The run was not an improvement. However, it was a strong run for the session and the conditions are expected to be very similar tomorrow.
"The run that we made in the final session was pretty strong for the conditions that we had. We are really looking forward to raceday and getting this Jeg's Chevy S-10 back into the winner's circle," noted Mike.
John moved back over to the right lane for the final session. The run during the fourth session was also not an improvement for John. He ran a 7.633 at 178.47 mph.
"That was not the run that we were looking for in the final session. We will spend a lot of time looking over each component in preparation for raceday tonight. I think that we will be ready when the sun comes up and Team Jeg's is looking forward to having a great day tomorrow," said John.
In the opening round John will face off against Taylor Lastor. John will have lane choice when he begins his battle from the No. 5 position. Mike will start from the No. 13 spot and will face off against Bob Panella in round one.
