Gainesville, Fla. (March 17) - Mark Whisnant, driver of the PiranaZ Chevrolet S-10 Pro Stock Truck was forced to sit out the 32nd Annual Mac Tools Gatornationals in Gainesville, FL when he failed to qualify for the event.

Whisnant and his PiranaZ race team were unable to identify the problem that caused him to run below par.

"We have a problem that we can't find," said Whisnant. "We tore the truck apart before the last session, trying to see if we missed something some where. When we didn't find anything wrong, we threw the whole trailer at it to try and make it into field during the last session. We did everything we could, but it just didn't work out.

"It's frustrating to be this far off from where we were just a couple weeks ago in testing. Then to not be able to find anything wrong with the truck is really frustrating.

"We will go back home now and look some more for the problem. I wish we had some time to test before we go to Houston, but it doesn't look good. I hope we can get to the shop and find what ever it is that we missed.

"I wanted to make a good showing here for my sponsor PiranaZ Sportswear. This was the first race that they had the new T-shirt trailer at and I would have liked to have made the show for them. At least the T-shirt trailer had a good weekend, I wish we had also.

The next stop on the NHRA Drag Racing tour will be the 14th Annual O'Reilly Nationals in Houston, Texas March 22-25.
