Troy Falls Short

In the third qualifying session Troy Coughlin posted a run of 6.818 at 202.97 mph. The run was his best of the weekend and he slipped to the No. 18 position. Troy went into the final qualifying session on the outside looking in. The Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier crossed the finish line and put a run of 6.849 at 202.97 mph up on the board. It was not enough to break into the strong field and he joined a list of household names who will spectate on race day.

"We made two good runs today and it just wasn't enough to get the job done," explained Troy. "We changed our set up going into today to mirror a lot of the things that we learned from the runs my brother Jeg made on Friday. This is a zero tolerance class and you can't put yourself in the position to have to break into the field in the final qualifying session. Don't get me wrong, we are disappointed we don't have both Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavaliers in the show at the Mac Tools Gatornationals. We had a very productive test session before coming to Gainesville. Our group is committed to having both of our cars be a threat every time we go down the track. We will head back to the shop and get everything ready for Las Vegas."
