Team Jeg's Looking For Strong Performance in Gainesville
Jeg and Troy Coughlin have every reason to be confident about their chances of bringing home the Pro Stock victory at this year's Mac Tools Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida. The Pro Stock Duo has combined for one semifinal and two final round appearances in the past three years of the prestigious event, topping it off with a victory by Jeg Coughlin last season.
"We feel like we made some substantial progress in just a few short weeks," commented Jeg. "The folks at Mac Tools put on a great race and we would like nothing more than to put one of our Jeg's Mail Order machines back into the winner's circle in 2002."
Troy Coughlin is equally enthusiastic about his chances in Gainesville. Troy feels confident that the Gatornationals will mark the turning point of the season for Team Jeg's.
"We are still learning a lot about our in-house engine program," commented Troy. "Our performance has improved every time we have taken to the track this season. The learning curve that comes along with such an undertaking can come with some bumps and bruises, but we feel like we took a big step in the right direction in Phoenix. I feel that we should be very competitive when we roll the Jeg's Mail Order Chevrolet Cavaliers into the water box at the Mac Tools Gatornationals."
Gainesville also marks the return of John and Mike Coughlin to competition in 2002. The former Pro Stock Truck drivers will compete in the NHRA's competitive Super Comp class. John Coughlin's dragster will sport the Jeg's Allstars colors while Mike Coughlin debut's a new Undercover Chassis dragster.
"I'm really excited about getting back into action at Gainesville and promoting the Jeg's Allstars race," said John. "We are very excited about sponsoring this event and we are looking forward to working with the NHRA to support our fellow sportsman racers. The Gatornationals is always a great race to compete in, and I am definitely ready to get started."
"I can't wait to get back in the saddle at Gainesville," said an enthusiastic Mike Coughlin. "The Super Comp class is very competitive and exciting to compete in. Some of the finest Sportsman racers in the country make the trip south for the race, and I'm looking forward to adding the Jeg's Mail Order colors into the mix."
Jeg and Troy Coughlin enter the Mac Tools Gatornationals seventeenth and thirty-first respectively in the POWERade championship point standings. Twenty-seven points are all that stand in the way of a position in the top ten for Jeg Coughlin. Troy Coughlin is forty-eight marks out of the tenth spot.
