NHRA RACE TEAMS AND SAFETY-KLEEN TEAM UP FOR SUCCESSFUL WASTE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM AT GAINESVILLE RACEWAY

GLENDORA, Calif. (March 22, 2010) -- It was a resounding "thumbs-up" for all involved this past weekend as NHRA's racing community and Safety-Kleen teamed up to properly segregate and dispose of waste materials after the recently concluded Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway following an Environmental Management Plan reviewed and approved by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

"The local officials were extremely pleased with the program and we can't thank the racing community and Safety-Kleen enough for their cooperation and effort," said Don Robertson, general manager, Gainesville Raceway.

NHRA and Safety-Kleen Systems provided containers and secondary containment devices as well as proper labels for segregation and accumulation of waste to the teams prior to the start of the race. The race teams displayed great care in proper handling of any waste and, in-turn, Safety-Kleen handled all necessary disposals.

"The cooperation from the NHRA teams and the Gainesville Raceway staff was outstanding, said Drew Patey, Director of Safety-Kleen Motorsports. "Each team stepped up and we look forward to assisting the NHRA in its waste management initiative at other tracks in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series."

The service was made available free-of-charge to the race teams, thanks to a recently announced agreement between NHRA and Safety-Kleen Systems, Inc. As part of the agreement, Safety-Kleen was named the preferred provider for environmental services, fluid waste disposal and parts cleaner service at Gainesville Raceway.

NHRA and Safety-Kleen are working to implement a similar program at all NHRA owned and operated facilities including the upcoming Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway, May 14-16, the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals, Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1 -6 at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis and the season finale, the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals, Nov. 11-14 at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.
