Jeter Reaches The Quarter-finals At The NHRA Gator Nationals

GAINESVILLE, FLA. - Brad Jeter continued his rise to the top of the NHRA Pro Stock Truck rankings with a quarter-final finish at the NHRA Mac Tools Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla. The competitive driver from Greenville, SC. lost a tough match to Greg Stanfield in the second round of eliminations for the nip and tuck division.

Jeter got off to a good start in qualifying by nailing down the third quickest position in the Haas and Jeter Chevrolet S-10.

He was paired opposite of John Coughlin in the opening round and scored a huge victory on a holeshot. Jeter used a .024 holeshot to gain a respectable lead and never looked back en-route to crossing the finish-line first with a 7.584/176.51. Coughlin put forth a valiant effort and lost with a 7.587/177.65.

In the quarters, Jeter faced recent Autozone Winternationals runner-up Greg Stanfield. Stanfield proved to be the quicker reacting of the two and that proved to be the difference. Stanfield got the win-light with a 7.619/176.49. Jeter lost despite a quicker 7.584/177.04.

Jeter was hoping for a win at Gainesville to avenge for a semi-final loss at last season's event.

"It's never a good thing to lose a race on the starting line," explained Jeter. "The facts are the facts and we'll just be back at the next race, ready to win. All in all, this was a good weekend."

Haas echoed Jeter's sentiment.

"We are making steady progress toward winning one of these events," explained the multi-time Car Craft All-Star award winner from Fenton, Mo. "It's tough for us to realize that we are a new team because we were accomplished as solo acts. I am positive that we are on an upward trend and that we will have plenty for the guys at Vegas."

The next event for the Haas and Jeter team is scheduled for the inaugural SummitRacing.Com Las Vegas Nationals in Las Vegas, Nv., during the weekend of April 6 - 9.
